The Sound of Music is set in 1930s Austria, just before the outbreak of World War II. Its costumes reflect the region’s traditional and period attire, from the von Trapp children’s simple dresses and lederhosen to Maria’s modest nun-inspired outfits and the family’s elegant formalwear.
